Introduction:

In July of 1997 the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia adopted the University System of Georgia Comprehensive Plan '96-'97. This initiative included principles set to guide planning for future facilities in support of the enrollment and mission of the institutions in the System. In 1998 Armstrong Atlantic State University was one of the first institutions to develop a campus Master Plan following the Physical Master Plan Template. In 1999 the University System initiated the development of a process for updating master plans. An Update Template was developed which identified fourteen (14) criteria that would trigger an Update. In the Fall of 2001 Dr. Jones and the Regents' Facilities Office determined that there were a sufficient number of changes - new strategic plan, new leadership, etc. to warrant an Update.

On November 30, 2001 President Thomas Jones appointed the following people to the Master Plan Update Committee.
